GOURMET GREEN + BLUE
|
AB is super excited about our brand new tailor made voyage, Gourmet Green + Blue, which takes you sailing across pristine Caribbean waters on a luxury yacht and into the lush rainforests of the Toledo district, where your destination is an eco-chic retreat perched high in the jungle canopy.
Your journey begins on your own private luxury 50ft catamaran, with just your skipper to raise the sails and your private chef to cook the catch. Sail to the most exclusive and untouched private islands that dot the barrier reef. Swim, snorkel, kayak, fish, spot dolphins or simply relax – you pick the tempo. The culinary highlights include collecting your conch and making your own ceviche, and spearfishing lobster with your guide, followed by a lobster cooking master class with your private chef. After journeying south to the Toledo District, you will be met at your yacht and transported by speedboat up the Rio Grande to the stunning Belcampo Lodge, a spectacular journey and our favorite ‘resort to resort’ transfer. Dismount onto dry land at Belcampo and climb aboard their private tram that will transport you 400ft from the lodge’s riverside deck through the rainforest to the main lodge. Set on a 3,000-acre sustainable farm, surrounded by a 15,000-acre rainforest reserve and comprising a small collection of privately situated luxurious jungle suites, Belcampo is one of the leading eco-hotels on the planet. With resident artisans, farmers and foragers on site, the métier at Belcampo Inc. is about producing the best tasting food and drink the earth can produce, in a way that provides a clear path from farm to table. AB recently took a road trip to Belcampo and were the first to experience their luxurious new look, following an extensive revamp. We loved sipping our morning coffee on our private screened porch, before meandering to the Lodge for breakfast. The food at Belcampo is some of the best, if not the best, we’ve tasted in all of Belize, and the staff are simply delightful. Belcampo is a great place to experience the jungle – clamber through cave networks, visit ancient Mayan cities, swim amongst waterfalls, and meet the local Mayan communities in their villages to learn about the history and culture of the region. You can complete your epicurean and sensory immersion with a bean to bar chocolate making class with the resident Belcampo artisans. Or simply enjoy the home made chocolate on offer – it’s divine! |
