The Resort and Rooms, Ka’ana

Cayo District

Booking enquiry

A short journey from San Ignacio town in the Cayo district of Belize, Ka’ana combines a tropical jungle escape with all the style and aesthetics of a cosmopolitan boutique vacation.

The rooms are understated yet elegant and contain all the sumptuous finishes and modern conveniences for a five star stay, including fabulous down duvets, luxury linens, an Italian espresso maker, flat screen TV, air conditioning, a range of locally produced botanical bathroom soaps and goodies, hibiscus flowers throughout and our favourite part….. daily tasty treats left in the mini fridge, including truffles, cookies and more.

There are 4 rooms types: “Balam” rooms are set in a hacienda style building around the pool and feature queen beds, the free-standing queen casitas are dotted down the garden path, the master casitas come with their own private gardens and outdoor showers and the brand new private pool villas come complete with dedicated housemen.

The cuisine at La Ceiba Restaurant is locally influenced with an international twist. Much of the produce is drawn from the hotel’s organic garden is sourced from local farmers and producers. The cocktail list in the Frieze bar is possibly the most creative in all of Belize (we love the ‘Camarão’ – a clear bloody mary, with a shrimp on the side – genius!)

Ka’ana also excels in the adventure and experience department too – they have custom built some incredible tours and experiences that are unique and original, including luxury camping at ancient Mayan cities, jaguar tracking, cultural experiences such as ceramics making with the locals and more.

Ka’ana is located just off the Western Highway between the towns of San Ignacio and Benque. Whist not set in a remote, ‘off the beaten track’ jungle location, the convenience is unrivalled, allowing speedier access to the region’s attractions.

The culinary experience at Ka’ana is taken seriously – the outcome is some of the most innovative and beautifully crafted cuisine in all of Belize.

The Organic Garden, located on the grounds of the resort, is a labor of love. Don Oscar, the local gardener works closely with the culinary team to provide up to 80% of the vegetables used in the kitchen.

La Ceiba Restaurant has a singular mandate: “To actively define authentic Belizean gourmet cuisine reflective of the multiple regions and cultures of Belize“. The kitchen manages to combine regional culinary highlights with an international twist and the results are top notch. AB loves the ‘sautéed mennonite pork sausage with chipotle and guava tomato chutney, served over mayan dukunu – a roasted corn & coconut milk tamale’. And we can’t not mention the divine ‘Turneffe Island seafood cioppino of fish and shrimp finished with brandy, served in a hollowed wheat bread bowl’.

Ka’ana also boasts the largest wine cellar in Belize, focused on small batch wines hailing from throughout the Americas region. Whether in the indoor lounge or the outdoor fireside courtyard, the Frieze Lounge offers a casually cool atmosphere. The cocktail offerings include refreshing versions of classic favorites and signature cocktails paired with “Pedasitos” – small tastes of authentic Belizean and Central American cuisine.

For a truly special experience, you can indulge in a private dining experience in one of the unique locations around our property. The 5-course tasting menu will be designed for your tastes and set in a private venue in either the wine cellar, next to the infinity pool or on the stargazing terrace.

The resort is stunning – ‘We travelled to Belize in June and stayed at Ka’ana for the first week of our vacation. Our experience of the resort is one we shall not forget. We were greeted upon arrival with a refreshing drink and welcomed warmly to the resort and to Belize itself. The resort is stunning. The grounds and accommodation are first class. The La Ceiba Restaurant at Ka’ana served mouth-watering food and it was so nice to experience the use of local ingredients in the menu choices. The desserts are out of this world! Nothing was too much effort and the staff were faultless. Their knowledge in respect of Belize itself and the tour experiences on offer were extremely valuable in making the right choices. The guides on the tours we took made each an interesting and memorable experience which added to the overall vacation. I would not hesitate to recommend Ka’ana and look forward to returning there again soon”. Donna H, Grand Cayman

The service was extraordinary We recently stayed at the Ka’ana Resort during a 4-day visit to Cayo. We could not have been in a better location to take day trips to Tikal, horseback riding to Xunantunich and ziplining and cave tubing. Each day we returned from our long, strenous adventures to relax, swim and enjoy the beautiful grounds and luxurious room. The service was extraordinary. The food was delicious. Best oatmeal ever and dinner was amazing. Only one night did we drive into San Ignacio to grab a quick meal. I have to admit that the satellite TV was a plus in this case because we could watch the Olympics at night! Even our teenage son enjoyed the property.Thank you again to the staff at Ka’ana Resort. We will be back”. Kathy B, Austin, Texas

Fantastic choice for couples  – “We stayed at Ka’ana for 4 nights and loved every bit of it. This was our first trip that lasted more than 2 nights in over 4 years and we wanted to be able to find a place which we felt had many of the comforts you are used to in the states but with surroundings and experiences we would not have in the states. Being that we are from Florida we were instantly interested in the rainforest vs the beaches and Ka’ana caught our attention because of its reviews, resort images and surrounding excursions.   We could not have been happier with our choice! The resort itself was beautiful and the staff members always extremely friendly and helpful. The excursions are amazing and a must do if possible is the ATM. A friend recommend I invest in a rash guard for added comfort during any cave excursions and I was very pleased that I did.  Because we did not get around to booking our trip until about 2 weeks previous, the only availability left was the villa. In hindsight it only made our experience that much better…if you do book one of the villas, I highly recommend you request Richard as your personal concierge (he even showed us around San Ignacio one of our days on the trip).  The food in the restaurant is delicious but I would also recommend you leave one or two days to eat at local restaurants (the hotel has drivers that will drop you off in town and the restaurants will call the driver up to pick you up once you are ready to head back…very convenient).  Overall we would highly recommend a trip to Ka’ana and are very happy with our choice”.
